Today the fifth generation of the Farahani family carries this heritage forward. Raised in Qom and Tehran, the founder inherited not only deep knowledge of rug craftsmanship but also a profound understanding of the cultural and historical significance of Persian rugs. Our collection reflects this centuries-long tradition — from classic patterns to contemporary designs — and includes thousands of handmade masterpieces crafted from wool, silk, and sustainable materials.

CEO, Luxonaria GmbH

Hassan Zanjirani Farahani (B.A., M.A., M.A.) is an Iranian-Austrian art collector, media artist, composer, and multi-instrumentalist. Born in Qom, raised in Tehran, he completed his academic education in Vienna and Linz. His family roots lie in Farahan — a region renowned for its historic Sarouk and Ziegler rugs — and in Qom, world-famous for some of the most precious silk carpets ever made. His father was a rug designer and calligrapher from childhood, and his mother an exceptionally gifted rug weaver who was already working in Farahan and Qom as a minor.

Since 2017, he has served as Managing Director of Luxonaria GmbH in Vienna, specializing in art restoration and trade. He studied piano, trumpet, and clarinet at the Tehran Conservatory, working as a pianist, clarinetist, and trumpeter in various orchestras before moving to Vienna. He studied composition and music and media technology at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and the Anton Bruckner University Linz, and took part in numerous academic courses in sound recording, PA systems, computer music, media art, acoustics and physics, lighting design, animation, and graphics. His most important teachers include Andreas Weixler and Carola Bauckholt. He completed all of his studies in composition and music and media technology with distinction.

His academic activities include music production, media art, stage performance, and music pedagogy as a guest lecturer at several music universities, including the Bruckner University and the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, as well as at festivals such as the Ars Electronica Festival. As a performer and improviser, Hassan Zanjirani Farahani focuses on electroacoustic music, synthesizers, and piano music. He has performed at numerous international festivals, including ORF Musikprotokoll Graz (Austria), the Mantova Chamber Music Festival (Italy), the Ars Electronica Festival (Linz), and Wien Modern (Vienna).

He is also an improviser who has performed at many festivals and venues such as the Vienna Konzerthaus, the Vienna State Opera, the Vienna Volksoper, the Raimund Theater (Vienna), the Ars Electronica Center, the Helmut List Halle (Graz), Porgy & Bess (Vienna), and the Brucknerhaus (Linz), among others.

His compositions are stylistically diverse. Most are pieces for piano, ensemble, and live electronics. He has also written works for film, theatre, dance performances, and music theatre. He works with stage lighting, architectural lighting, projection, graphics, animation, and visualization. He has also developed architectural installations worldwide, particularly in Austria, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, and Iran.

His professional field also includes educational activities such as university lectures and courses on composition, electronic music, digital audio workstations (DAW), sound synthesis, lighting design, visualization, and media art. Alongside his musical work, he is active as a sound engineer, sound and lighting designer, music producer, graphic designer, and VFX artist.
