Nain Persian Rug — hand-knotted, 100 × 210 cm, Wool & Silk

Overview

This Nain comes from Iran and measures 100 × 210 cm. The covered area is about 2.1 m² (3.3' × 6.9'). Nain rugs are traditionally finely knotted, with pale ivory and blue palettes.

Construction

Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as 12-15mm.

The stated knot density is 400,000–499,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.

It is catalogued under blue / Türkis. With traditionally dyed wool, small variations of tone within one field are normal.
