Hand-knotted in Iran: a Qom of 50 × 50 cm. It covers approximately 0.25 m², or 1.6' × 1.6'. Qom is known for very finely knotted rugs, often in silk.

Stated material: cotton warp, new wool, silk. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as approx. 8 mm. Weight is given as ap. 2 kg.

Where it fits

The rug is square. At this size it works as an entryway mat or a bedside rug.

Fineness of the knotting

The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.

Colour and appearance

The stated colourway is multicolour. Silk takes light differently from wool, so the same area can look pale from one side and deep from the other.
