Origin Iran, format 147 × 215 cm — a Qom made entirely by hand. It covers approximately 3.16 m², or 4.8' × 7.1'. Qom is known for very finely knotted rugs, often in silk.

Materials and construction

Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as 5-7mm.

Format and use

The rug is rectangular. Large enough to hold a full seating group.

Fineness of the knotting

The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.
