Description

Overview

Origin India, format 171 × 242 cm — a Tabriz made entirely by hand. The covered area is about 4.14 m² (5.6' × 7.9'). Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.

Materials and construction

Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. It is entirely hand-knotted. Pile height is given as 10-12mm.

Format and use

The rug is rectangular. Large enough to hold a full seating group.

Fineness of the knotting

The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². Knotting at this density allows detailed drawing and soft transitions between colours.

Colour and appearance

Colour is recorded as multicolour. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.

Period

Stated condition: new.
