Description

Overview

Hand-knotted in India: a Tabriz of 245 × 303 cm. That is roughly 7.42 m² of floor, about 8' × 9.9'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.

Construction

Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as 5-7mm.

Size and placement

The rug is rectangular. At this size the rug defines the room rather than accenting it.

On the knot count

The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.

On the colourway

The stated colourway is red and orange. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.

Age

Stated condition: new.
