Description

Overview

Hand-knotted in Pakistan: a Tabriz of 80 × 380 cm. That is roughly 3.04 m² of floor, about 2.6' × 12.5'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.

What it is made of

Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as 4mm.

Size and placement

Large enough to hold a full seating group.

On the knot count

The stated knot density is 500,000–599,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.

Colour and appearance

Colour is recorded as Weiß / beige. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.

Age

Stated condition: new.
