Description

Overview

Hand-knotted in Iran: a Tabriz of 70 × 138 cm. That is roughly 0.97 m² of floor, about 2.3' × 4.5'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.

What it is made of

Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. It is entirely hand-knotted. Pile height is given as 5-7mm.

Size and placement

The rug is rectangular. At this size it works as an entryway mat or a bedside rug.

Knot density and quality

The stated knot density is 500,000–599,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.

On the colourway

Colour is recorded as multicolour. With traditionally dyed wool, small variations of tone within one field are normal.

Age and condition

Stated condition: new.
